Do you know Manchester had a prosperous hat making industry in the 19th century to supply working hats as well as hats for all important occasions like weddings and funerals?
You will get the chance to see the world tallest top hat, the popular bowler hat for London bankers and the contemporary trilby hats for all occasions.
Stoke-on- Trent (one hour from Manchester) became the UK’s equivalent of Jingdezheng where hundreds of porcelain factories were established in the 18th and 19th century.
You will be visiting World of Wedgwood, which prides itself for its intricate design inspired by history (Greek and Roman), nature (flowers and insects). You can enjoy afternoon tea in the Wedgwood Tea Room and purchase a piece of art work at a discounted price at its factory shop.
Ms. Karen Wang, Deputy Director of Confucius Institute at he University of Manchester, and Ms. Sherry Fu, Director of University of Manchester China Centre, will lead the group along with a mysterious colleague from the China Centre to present to you: cultural visit programme for GMBA graduates!
