Talk Topic: Blockchain - Challenges & Opportunities in Today’s Business

The University of China Centre has invited two blockchain experts from PwC to share with our students and alumni about blockchain and its applications in non-financial areas.

Many of us have heard of blockchain and the definitions are becoming more digestible in this tech-centered world – but the sectors that blockchain impacts are no longer limited to solely financial services. At this event, Chun Yin Cheung and Michael Xia will provide an overview of blockchain technology and its development in recent years. By sharing case studies in several non-financial industries, such as retail & consumer, food, and logistics, the two speakers will shed light on the opportunities and challenges of applying blockchain in a business environment.

Chun Yin Cheung PwC Partner, Cyber Security and Innovation

Chun Yin Cheung (CY) is a Partner in Risk Assurance practice based inShanghai with over 16 years of experience, including five years in Hong Kong.CY is a major Blockchain technology driver in PwC, who pioneered a series ofinnovative Blockchain services. He specialises in Fintech, Blockchain, andcyber security advisory, IT regulatory compliance and consulting, IT systemsrisk management, information security & privacy risk management, COBIT,ITIL, ISO27001, business process & IT system controls assurance, IT andoperational due diligence review and PKI/CA advisory. He also has extensiveexperience working with regulatory authorities, including HKMA and CBRC, to financial services clients for compliance reporting and consulting.

Michael Xia PwC Senior Manager,Cyber Security and Innovation

Michael Xiais a Senior Manager in Risk Assurance practice based in Shanghai with 10 yearsof experience. Michael is a key member of PwC Blockchain team, and he participated in a series of innovative Blockchain services. He specialises in Fintech, Blockchain, and cyber security advisory, IT regulatory compliance and consulting, IT systems risk management, information security & privacy risk management, ISO27001, business process & IT system controls assurance, and IT due diligence advisory.
