UoM China Centre Alumni Healthcare Club Event Roundtable: The Impact of US-China Trade War on Life Science Industry

On 30th Oct, 2018, The University of China Centre Alumni Healthcare Club will be hosting a roundtable discussion event on the impact of US-China trade war on life science industry.

Joining the event, four speakers each with extensive experience in the industry will share their expert insight on the topic under heated discussion.

Alumni Speaker: RonghuI Gao MBA 2001
Mr. Gao has twenty six years work experience in the life science industry. He started his medical career on infectious disease management before he joined Nestle (China) in the commercial division. Mr. Gao is the founder G-Med Consulting, and is specialised in supporting European SMEs to access to China and helps Chinese companies invest in Europe. His clients range from drug development, biotech and medtech from nine European countries. Mr. Gao is an advisor to a number of major European and Chinese life science clusters. He is also the co-founder of China BioVentures and the co-founder of the new European BioMedical Centre in Shanghai.





Speaker: Dr. Hong Tan
Hong Tan started Wave Crossing Corporation in early 2000, a new manufacturing technology for GRIN lens, an essential component in fiber optic communication systems. Hong started ForteBio, a biotech company that invented the fiber optic biosensor “Bio-layer Interferometry.” This technology is widely used in today’s biopharma industry. ForteBio was acquired by Pall in 2010, and became a part of Danaher when Pall was acquired. Hong started ET Healthcare. ET invented a new bio-detection technology that simplifies immunoassays and enables point-of-care-testing to reach large lab systems’ performance. In the cardiac diagnostics, ET has become a technology leader. Prior to his entrepreneur career, Hong worked in the data storage industry, including Iomega, Maxtor, Seagate, Caleb Tech and Connor Tech.





Alumni Speaker: Dr. He Chunyan, 2015 GMBA
Dr. He Chunyan was the Managing Director and partner of Fosun Jiaotong University Fund, holding Ph. D. in immunology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She was a senior scientist of Shanghai Institute of Biological Products, Fuson Pharma Analysis Manager, BD Senior Manager, Product Planning Director of Tasley Group, and Head of Health Investment Team of Sunshine Insurance Group. Leading and participating in dozens of projects, including Dalian Wanchun, Xinda Biology, Yiming Pharmaceutical, Chengdu Hitgen, Tianshizhen (Tianjie Biology), Shanghai Jiancheng, etc., IPO listing of several projects, leading the privatization of American Life Science Inc, Shanghai Jiahe Biological exit.





Alumni Speaker: Yunfei Zhang, 2013 GMBA
Yunfei Zhang has around 14 years of working experience, Specially in commercial, Sales&Marketing and BD operation, in Chemo Pharmaceutical Group, Crown BioScience. He was the most recent BD Director of Innovent Biologics, and actually in I-MAB Biopharmaceuticals. Yunfei studied in France during 2002 to 2006 to obtain his Bachelorand Master’s degree. He is a French speaker and an amateur of Ultra Trial Marathon.
