Dear Alumni,

We would like to express our sincere solidarity with you as the impact of the coronavirus becomes more widespread.

We would also like to say thank you to those of you who are working on the frontline in the fight against the virus.

Please be assured that we will do everything we can to support our alumni and supporters as we navigate the weeks ahead together.

A message from President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, recorded earlier this week

Earlier this week, the University suspended face-to-face teaching and closed non-essential sites on our Manchester campus. This is to protect the health and wellbeing of our students, staff, alumni and visitors.

• Find out more about these closures on the University website.

University of Manchester Worldwide (UMW)

Our UMW International Centres are operating as usual but are closed to physical access for students, staff, alumni and visitors. Some are due to reopen soon.

Please email your centre with enquiries and before you plan to visit:

• info@manchester.ac.ae - Middle East Centre, Dubai

• mba@manchester.edu.hk - East Asia Centre, Hong Kong

• mba@uom.ac.cn - China Centre, Shanghai

• mbaenquiries@manchester.edu.sg - South East Asia Centre, Singapore

Alumni events

We have postponed or cancelled most of our upcoming alumni events. We are hoping to move some of our events online. We will contact you soon about new dates, arrangements and refunds.

Contact Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR) Staff

DDAR staff are all now working from home. The easiest way to contact us is by email:

• alumni@manchester.ac.uk - for general enquiries

• alumnievents@manchester.ac.uk - for questions about alumni events

• alumni.volunteer@manchester.ac.uk - for alumni volunteering enquiries

• supporters@manchester.ac.uk - for enquiries about your donations and support

Receiving mail

Any mail that you send us is being held in our post room. If you have been kind enough to send a gift, there will be a delay in us processing it and thanking you.

As soon as we reopen, we will write to let you know that we have received it. In the meantime, please accept my personal thanks for your generosity.

Our Alumni Community

Everything we do at our University has people at its heart: students, colleagues, alumni and supporters.

We are currently planning how our global community of 500,000 alumni can work together to address the challenges we face, and to support each other.

We will be in touch again in the coming days and weeks about how you can help, or get the support you need.

Our resources

We know that thousands of you use our Library's e-resources like Jstor and Sage Journals.

You can continue to use these e-resources while our libraries are closed. We will be working hard to make it easier for you to access these, and will also be exploring if we can give you access to any new resources.

For now, the most important thing is that we all support and help each other, and stay healthy.

Best wishes,

Kate White, Director of Development and Alumni Relations
