The year of 2020 is no doubt a remarkable year. After the outbreak of COVID-19, The University of Manchester has been pro-actively taking initiatives to protect the well-being of students and their family in the global centres.

China Centre opened up a brand new site

China Centre welcomed a new site this autumn at L’Avenue, another landmark building in Shanghai, solidifying its status as a unique international centre of Manchester education in the region. Merging innovative design with sustainable goals and digitalised functionality, the brand-new China Centre heralds a new chapter in the story of Manchester University’s presence within the region. 180 MBA students in 2020

From 7th to 8th January, the welcome event for Manchester Global Part-time MBA January 2020 new students was successfully held at the University of Manchester China Centre. 64 outstanding working professionals officially entered the University of Manchester. Read more

On 1st July 2020, a blended welcome event for Manchester Global MBA 2020 July intake students was successfully held at the University of Manchester China Centre, which was the first time of us to combine both online and offline elements in the induction. More than 50 outstanding working professionals officially have been enrolled to the University of Manchester. Read more

stays high in various Rankings

The Financial Times’ lastest ranking of Top MBAs which was released on 27th January 2020 sees Alliance Manchester Business School ranked 5th in the UK and positioned as 11th in Europe and 45th in the world. Read more

The University of Manchester has been named the most targeted university by the UK’s top 100 graduate employers for the third year in a row, according to The Graduate Market in 2020. Read more

According to THE Impact Rankings 2020, The University of Manchester has again ranked as the top higher education institution in the country for its social and environmental impact across its full range of functions.The University has also been rated the second in Europe and eighth globally. These assessments come from this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings. Read more

According to the latest QS world University Rankings, The University of Manchester is maintained its highest ranking, at 27th in the world.

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell became
the first female Chair of Russell Group

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester, took over the Chair of Russell Group in September 2020 and to be the first woman to take on the role. Read more

of MSc Financial Management

On 14th September, The University of Manchester (UoM) China Centre hosted a blended welcome event for the 1st Asia cohort of MSc Financial Management, which remarked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for 27 finance professionals with different industry experiences and diversified cultural backgrounds. Prof. Dame Nancy Rothwell hosted online event for China alumni

In the evening of 29th September 2020, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester hosted a webinar exclusively for alumni community in China. Professor Rothwell updated with alumni in China on recent developments from Manchester and how the University is responding to the COVID-19 situation. She also congratulated on the new era of the University of Manchester China Centre, which represented a clear vision of the University’s commitment to people, and to nurturing new talent. Read more

On October 21st 2020, the final of the Second Magnificent Culture (Mculture) Mtalk– “Chinese Storytelling and Knowledge Contest for Foreign Friends” was held at the University of Manchester China Centre, hosted by Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association (SORSA), and organized by Mcloud and SORSA University of Manchester Alumni Association. British Business Awards 2020

The British Business Awards 2020 Awards ceremony and Gala Dinner was hosted in Shanghai on 29th October. The Awards recognizes and promotes excellence in innovation, enterprise and endeavour in the British and Chinese business communities. The University of Manchester China Centre was invited to present at the Gala Dinner as the most outstanding important partner regional ambassador Sino-UK relationship. Read more

China Centre Awarded Most Valued Brand of Business Education

On 12th November 2020, the 8th Tencent Business School Development Forum was successfully held in Beijing. Ms. Sherry Fu, Founding Director of UoM China Centre was invited to attend the award ceremony.  The University of Manchester China Centre has won the award of "Evergreen brand · The Most Valued Brand of Business Education 2020", which is undoubtedly a recognition of its contribution to the promotion of higher education and business exchanges between China and the UK in the past twelve years.

China Centre successfully held 2020 graduation reception

On the evening of 16th December 2020, the University of Manchester China Centre hosted a special graduation reception - inviting the Class of 2020 Global MBA Graduates to gather at the brand-new Centre and connecting them with Manchester in the Virtual Graduation Celebration through the upgraded video conferencing system. Although the outbreak of COVID-19 has imposed obstacles on international travel, China Centre hopes to congratulate the graduates with the warmest good wishes in this event.

The Virtual Celebration also unveiled “The Best Overall Student Award" which went to Alexander Barton from China Centre, who is also among the graduates with distinction in December 2020. In recognition of the academic achievements of graduates over the past two years, Ms Sherry Fu, University of Manchester China Centre Director awarded the certificates to the representatives of distinction graduates.
