Education Roundtable – The Future of UK Education Pathways

英国，作为中国留学生主要的留学目的地之一，广受中国学生喜爱。然而，新冠疫情的突然爆发，日益复杂的国际政策和不断提高的录取要求都给英国留学蒙上了一层未知色彩。 在此背景下，上海英国商会举办了线上教育圆桌研讨会，汇集多位英国教育行业领路人，聚焦英国教育的前景与未来，曼彻斯特大学中国中心主任傅潇霄女士应邀出席，作为主讲嘉宾之一，分享了她对英国高等教育在后疫情时代发展趋势的看法。

Recently, British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai has newly launched podcast - 'The Future of UK Education Pathways' which explores what the short and long term future holds for Chinese students looking to study in the UK.

本次研讨会由上海包玉刚实验学校校长David Mansfield先生作为活动主持人，与霍兰德教育咨询中国区副总裁Freddie Winterbotham先生，曼彻斯特大学中国中心主任傅潇霄女士，牛津国际学院首席教育官Yasmin Sarwar女士以及CamVision教育有限公司创始人兼首席执行官Mengmeng Wang博士一起参与讨论，几位专家分别分享了他们在教育领域的真知灼见：

- 曼彻斯特大学中国中心主任傅潇霄女士：结合曼彻斯特大学在华十三年的发展经验，分享了英国高等教育机构和企业在中国创业和发展的战略，同时，分析了后疫情时代，英国大学对于中国留学生的吸引力持续上升的主要因素和英国高等教育系统的优势。

傅潇霄女士强调：“虽然国际形式多变，英国疫情不明朗，但疫情期间，曼彻斯特大学心系学生，多项前沿举措齐头并进，保证学生就读体验，展现出红砖大学的底蕴与胸怀。值得一提的是，疫情下曼大收到来自中国学生申请量剧增，这一数据显示了学生及家长对英国大学的认可与信心。

- Ms. Sherry Fu: shared insights for studying in UK universities. She emphasized that the total number of new applications drives surprise rise in Chinese students across all sectors and majors. Taking The University of Manchester as an example, at undergraduate level, the new application numbers increased 44% and 10% growth at postgraduate taught level. Although there are still some significant concerns regarding international situation, the improvement of UK public health circumstance and perception regarding the situation in the UK’s ability have boosted the confidence in students and the families. We can see British Universities still have very positive trends to attract best students in the coming years from all over the world.

- Freddie: introduced the stage for students who prepare to move to the UK and some useful guidelines.

- 牛津国际学院首席教育官Yasmin Sarwar女士: 讨论了私立寄宿学校为支持国际学生学习采取的措施以及新冠疫情影响下英国寄宿制学校需要应对的特殊挑战

- Yasmin: talked about what measures private boarding schools have taken to support international students and if there is anything particular that international students need to take into account when applying to a boarding school in the UK during or post-pandemic.

- CamVision教育有限公司创始人兼首席执行官Mengmeng Wang博士: 结合自身16年前移居英国的经历，分享了寄宿学校，大学以及职业生涯中在不同阶段的进展

- Dr Wang: shared her personal experience about how she moved to the UK 16 years ago and what was her pathway progressing through boarding school, University and career.
