【Event Review】UoM China First Forum on Artificial Intelligence

On the afternoon of April 2nd, 2023, the first Artificial Intelligence Forum organized by the University of Manchester China Centre and the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association Changning Branch, and co-organized by the SORSA UoM Alumni Association was successfully held in Shanghai with the theme of "Explore OpenAI and GPT-X". Over 60 alumni and guests from SORSA Changning Chapter attended the event and engaged in in-depth discussions and interactions with the experts.


Welcome Speech

Ms. Sherry Fu, Founding Director of The University of Manchester China Centre, Vice President of the Changning Overseas Friendship Association, and President of SORSA Changning Chapter, attended the forum and delivered the opening speech. On behalf of the organizers, she extended a warm welcome to guests, experts, and senior scholars in attendance and introduced the research and teaching of the SORSA Changning Chapter and UoM in the field of artificial intelligence.

Keynote Speech

The event featured a keynote speech by Microsoft's Greater China Digital Application Innovation Market Business Manager, Mr. Hao Xu, who discussed the history of OpenAI and GPT, Large Language Models (LLMs) emergent capabilities, "GPT-ize" innovation scenarios, and How to use LLM out-of-box.

Roundtable Discussion

Following the keynote, industry experts, Mr. Xun Jiang, Chief Architect of the Data Middle Platform at Alibaba Group, Mr. Libin Shen, CEO of Leyan Technologies, and Mr. Hao Xu, participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by Ms. Sherry Fu. Guest speakers shared their experiences and perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, discussing in-depth the application scenarios and future development trends of ChatGPT, and exploring the development of Artificial Intelligence in different fields. The discussion covered trends in the development of Artificial Intelligence, technological innovation, and application cases, providing attendees with a deeper understanding and knowledge of the application and future development trends of Artificial Intelligence.

Closing Remarks

This event is the first Artificial Intelligence Forum held by UoM China Centre, SORSA UoM Alumni Association and SORSA Changing Chapter, attracting over 60 alumni and guests from SORSA Changning Chapter, who engaged in in-depth discussions and interactions with the experts. Through this forum, attendees gained a deeper understanding of the application and future development trends of Artificial Intelligence. In the future,UoM China Centre, SORSA UoM Alumni Association, and SORSA Changning Chapter will hold more AI-related events to serve Changning's digital economy and promote the construction of a digital and intelligent Changning.
