UoM China Centre Visited Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou

On May 24, 2023, Sherry Fu, Director of UoM China Centre, accompanied by Crystal Cheng, Senior Marketing Officer, visited Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou (WASCZ), and had a productive meeting with Dr Paul Silverwood, Headmaster, and Jonathan Barry, Deputy Head (Extension) of WASCZ. The visit was coordinated by Rita Shen, Head of the Chinese Language and Culture Faculty at WASCZ, who is also currently pursuing UoM's MA Educational Leadership in Practice (ELiP) course.

Under the guidance of Shen, Fu and Cheng took a comprehensive campus tour, unveiling the remarkable facilities such as an impressive theatre, a fully equipped watersports venue, and captivating student artworks.

Dr Silverwood, Headmaster of WASCZ and a distinguished alumnus of The University of Manchester, warmly welcomed the UoM China Centre delegation and extended his congratulations to the University on its upcoming bicentennial anniversary, as well as to the China Centre on its 15th birthday. Reflecting upon cherished memories at the UoM, he was exceptionally impressed by the University's global impact and the China Centre's endeavour on promoting world-class education and empowering cultural, educational and talent exchange in the region.

The visit marks a significant step in the UoM China Educator Club's School Visit Series. The China Centre is dedicated to providing its community with a broader platform and opportunities to connect with industrial pioneers. Acknowledged as an experienced expert in the international education sector, Dr Silverwood was also invited to deliver keynote speeches for UoM's ELiP students and alumni, sharing his professional insights and practical experiences on leading educational change and transformative educational practices.

Building upon the well-established collaboration between UoM China Centre and Wycombe Abbey Schools in China, Fu and Dr Silverwood have mutually expressed their positive intention to further develop a solid partnership with a focus on talent cultivation. With the aim of enhancing industrial collaborations, the effort exemplifies the shared commitment of both institutions to nurturing talents through excellent education.
