2023 Summer Graduation | Congratulations! Class of 2023

July is the most charming season in the UK, with up to 16 hours sunshine a day. Various events and carnivals will be on and The University of Manchester will also hold its biggest event in a year which is the summer graduation. During that time, the entire campus is filled with blessings and love from families and friends.


With the resume of global travel, students in China can choose to attend the graduation ceremony on campus in Manchester for an unforgettable life experience.

As a university which possesses the largest campus, the summer graduation is going to last 11th July to 21st July. The graduation ceremony for Manchester Global MBA students is scheduled to take place on the last day of the graduation season.

Let's celebrate the unforgettable moment with Manchester Global MBA, Class of 2023!

At The University of Manchester China Centre, we also celebrate the significant milestone for our graduates of Global MBA and part-time master's courses. On 22 July, 2023, China Centre successfully held the Summer Graduation party in Shanghai.

Graduates from Manchester Global MBA, MA Educational Leadership in Practice, and MSc International Fashion Marketing gathered together in China Centre to celebrate their academic achievements over the past two years and looked forward to embarking on a new journey with excitement and joy in their hearts.

At the beginning of the ceremony, all the graduates were wearing academic gowns, hoods, and caps, capturing their unique moments in front of the University logo at the centre.

Ms. Sherry Fu, Founding Director of UoM China Centre, extended her congratulations to all the graduates in her welcome speech: "The two-year learning journey has been replete with challenges, yet I firmly believe that each one of you has broadened your perspectives, accumulated knowledge, and undergone a profound transformation amidst this era of radical change. Your transformative journey has facilitated you to have a deeper understanding of the intricate business landscape, fostering in you a global vision with a sense of social responsibility. I am proud of you. The milestone you’ve achieved is a cause for today’s celebration."

Ms. Fu emphasized that for the graduates, this is the beginning of the journey and their association with Manchester, not the end. She hoped that everyone would embrace the University’s motto:” knowledge, wisdom, and humanity”, and adhere to “Original thinking applied” from the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) to achieve greater success and leap forward in the future.


Mr. Josh Gabriel
Senior Programme Manager, British Council


Mr. Josh Gabriel, Senior Programme Manager, from British Council, delivered a keynote speech as the special guest for the graduation ceremony. He said, “Graduation is the result of an enormous amount of work, and you can be sure that you have earned this privilege to now become a Manchester alumnus through sheer hard work. You should be especially proud of yourself. There is no doubt that Manchester graduates go on to do incredible things. And I’m certain that you will too. I hope that your time and achievements here will stay with you throughout your life and that your memories of Manchester university will stay with you forever…You now join a community of more than 500,000 Manchester alumni across 190 countries, which I hope you will take advantage of.”

Josh also emphasized the cultural implication: “I sincerely hope that today does not mark the end of your relationship with the University of Manchester or the UK, but rather that you will take on the role of cultural ambassador and nurture the friendships that you have already created while studying as well as form many more in the future.”


Among the graduates of the Manchester Global MBA, 6% achieved Distinction in their degrees. 22% and 9% of the graduates from MA Educational Leadership in Practice and MSc International Fashion Marketing, respectively, obtained Distinction in their studies.

Ms. Sherry Fu presented the Distinction Graduate Awards to this year's exceptional graduates, Mr. Sean Zhao, Mr. David Xi,and Student Service Award to Ms. Nana Gong.

Graduate representatives, Ms. Olivia Zang from Manchester Global MBA, Mr. Duanyao Wu from MSc International Fashion Marketing and Ms. Rong Yang from MA Educational Leadership in Practice, shared some key takeaways from their journeys at UoM China Centre, as well as their expectations and prospects for the future. They pointed out that 'Every minute of hard work and every obstacle that we have overcome was worth the achievement we have gained today. We are grateful that The University of Manchester offers the opportunity for working professional in China to recieve the world-class education and boost our career. '
