In 2025, Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) marks its 60th anniversary, a significant milestone in its history. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the University of Manchester China Centre is launching a series of ESG Alumni Enterprise Visits. This initiative aims to deepen our understanding of the practical application and innovation of ESG principles within enterprises by visiting alumni-led businesses. It also seeks to strengthen connections and collaboration among alumni, collectively driving a sustainable future. The first stop on this journey will be CarbonNewture, an alumni enterprise renowned for its innovation and influence in the field of carbon technology.

Prof. Ismail Ertürk Senior Lecturer in Banking, AMBS, The University of Manchester

Ismail Ertürk joined the School in January 1987, having worked previously for a merchant bank in Istanbul. He has taught corporate finance, bank financial management and international finance on both the School’s MBA and Executive Centre programmes. In recent years his teaching reflects his research interests in financialization and financial innovation that he investigates as part of an inter-disciplinary team at CRESC at the University of Manchester. He has undertaken advisory work for companies and government institutions internationally and has developed and directed senior banking programmes and ESG executive programmes for the Executive Centre. His current research interests include financialisation, financial intermediation, financial innovation, corporate governance, executive pay, financial literacy, household financial portfolios, and cultural economy.

Mr. Arthur Huang UoM GMBA Alumus

Arthur Huang is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of CarbonNewture, and an expert member of the ESG Working Group under the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME). With extensive experience in multinational corporations and high-tech companies, he has a solid background in marketing and management. He has long been dedicated to delivering professional services across cuttingedge fields such as low-carbon transformation, digital empowerment, carbon and green certificate trading, and ESG, with strong industry expertise and hands-on experience.

Dr. Xiaohu Qiao UoM GMBA & DBA Alumnus

Dr. Xiaohu Qiao is an accomplished scholar-practitioner with extensive academic and industry experience in business strategy and operations management. With a global perspective and deep expertise in the Chinese market, he has honed his skills over 30 years in industry practice and teaching at renowned universities. Dr. Qiao holds a Doctorate in Management from the University of Manchester, UK, making him an expert in navigating complex business environments, particularly within the Chinese market. He is dedicated to knowledge transfer and mentoring the next generation of business leaders.
