共赴蜕变之旅 | 曼彻斯特全球在职MBA项目2024年1月班迎新仪式圆满举行

On 6 Jan. 2024, a new intake of Manchester Global Part-time MBA students was welcomed by the China Centre team at the start of their two-year MBA journey.

Let’s have a look at the facts and figures for the Jan. 2024 intake. The average age of the candidates is 39 years old, with an average of 16 years of work experience and 8.5 years of management experience.This intake mainly comes from China, Malaysia, and the USA.

The cohort comprises MBA candidates from diverse industry backgrounds, including biotech/pharma, professional services, retail, manufacturing, automotive, FMCG, and more. Notably, 40% of this intake is from biotech/pharma industry.

With more than a decade of work experience, they are transitioning into the role of students, aiming to gain a more comprehensive interdisciplinary perspective, refine innovative thinking, seize new business opportunities, take new challenges and become global leaders with strategic thinking and a sense of social responsibility.

Following the opening speech, the Student Support Team from China Centre introduced the student support service to the new students, focusing strongly on blended learning. This approach offers flexible online study in parallel with face-to-face interaction to ensure busy working professionals get the most out of their studies.

Our new MBA students would join their first workshop for the ‘Leading & Managing in a Global Environment’ alongside the welcome event. Following Manchester Global MBA Programme, students will have the opportunity to meet their peers in workshops to have discussions of real business cases.

Aspirations!

When one has nothing to lose, he/she possesses the potential to gain everything.    

Embracing a mindset of receptivity, I embarked upon the Manchester Global MBA program with an eagerness to acquire new knowledge and insights, in pursuit of discovering the approach for building the cake.

My expectation from GMBA program is to obtain the leadership, strategy development, critical thinking, and practical skills that could help me obtain or be competent at a higher managerial position. The University of Manchester is known for the global reputation and academic excellence. I am sure I would enjoy rigorously rich courses and case studies covering various expertise from Manchester GMBA program which would in a long term enhance my career prospects.

Life is a long journey. I would like to extend my dimension of life to make the journey more interesting. What I am expecting from Manchester Global MBA is underlying logic of business, interesting thoughts and attitudes towards business and life.

At the start of a new year 2024, I'm super lucky to kick off my amazing adventures on Manchester Global MBA. It's also a very special time to mark the university's bicentenary. I believe the incredible innovation and knowledge from this 200 years giant will lead me to find the answer to not just a career development plan but also the true spirit of entrepreneur.

We are under the time with rapidly escalating complexity, uncertainty, and market volatility, which is requiring everyone to stay competitive. I believe that Manchester Global MBA is the place to accelerate my own development and stretch myself to be a well-rounded version.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, while imagination is not. The University of Manchester is famous for its outstanding teaching method combining management theory and business practice. I am looking forward to enhancing my ability of deep thinking and problem solving, and to stimulating my management potential through Manchester’s courses

Changing never stops and becomes even more disruptive in the past few years of my life. The macroeconomic resilience and emerging tendency are still under tests and probably too early to be settled. As to an ordinary people like me, the changing inevitably becomes a norm that we better live with and nail a way to survive. I am expecting for well-trained capabilities to think through in the sophisticated business civilization and act smart in my day-to-day life. GMBA program is way opposite of easy to me, yet it must be a wise move and precious journey to take.
