UoM China Team Embarks on International Education Tour

The University of Manchester China Team embarked on a significant tour recently, visiting a series of renowned international educational institutions. Throughout the journey, the team promoted the University's full-time and part-time programmes and fostered collaborations aimed at the development of international talents.

Foshan Majestic International College

On 1st March 2024, Sherry Fu, Founding Director of the University of Manchester China Centre, and her team were warmly welcomed at Foshan Majestic International College. The visit, hosted by Principal Simon Feng, Vice Principal Aileen Lin, and the head of Human Resources, sparked in-depth discussions on the cultivation and development of international talents.

Simon Feng, a distinguished alumnus of Manchester, shared his enriching experiences with the University's Global MBA programme and its profound impact on his career development. The team also delved into Majestic's staff wellbeing and development strategies, highlighting the critical role of nurturing management talents with a global outlook in school growth. Crystal Cheng, the senior course counsellor at the UoM China Centre, introduced the part-time Educational Leadership in Practice Programme tailored for international educators, aiming to empower the school's management team by enhancing teachers' communication, decision-making, and management skills.

On 6th March 2024, led by Sherry Fu, the UoM China team visited Harrow LiDe School in Chongqing, engaging with Headmaster Aaron Lennon, teachers, students, and parents. The team provided detailed insights into Manchester's educational offerings, admission policies, and specialised part-time programmes for educators and working professionals in China. The presentation, held in the school's lecture hall and streamed live for those unable to attend, was followed by a Q&A session addressing the concerns of parents and teachers.

The same day, the delegation continued their educational outreach at Lucton School Chongqing. Founding Head Sarah Ezdani, Executive Governor Ann Pan, and the head of the college counselling department warmly welcomed the team. Cecilia Sun, International Student Recruitment & Marketing Officer (China) from UoM's International Office, met with students and parents. Ms. Ezdani remarked on the visit's positive impact, highlighting Manchester as a “dream school” for many of their students, and the direct dialogue with parents and students as highly beneficial. Additionally, Ms. Pan emphasized the significance of teacher development alongside student cultivation. The school’s leadership teams expressed that hope this visit would spark further collaboration in international talent development.

The series of visits underscores The University of Manchester's continued commitment to students, parents, alumni, and the wider community. It also embodies the China Centre's dedication to advancing the concept of lifelong education. By continuously integrating university and industry resources, we will actively contribute to the cultivation and development of international talents.
