UoM Bicentenary Hainan Forum Successfully Held in Haikou

From 5 August to 7 August, the Hainan Forum was successfully held in Haikou to celebrate the Bicentenary of The University of Manchester. For the first time, alumni from across China gathered on the beautiful island of Hainan to discuss the financial and educational policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Ms. Sherry Fu, Director of The University of Manchester China Centre, and Dr. Cherie Chen, President of the Hainan Branch of The University of Manchester China Alumni Association, attended the event. Nearly 40 alumni and professionals from the financial and educational sectors came together to experience the collision of ideas and cultural exchange.

On the afternoon of 5 August, after visiting the Hainan Free Trade Port Resort Software Community , alumni proceeded to the conference building for the forum. Ms Sherry Fu, Director of UoM China Centre, Prof. Renjun Li from School of Economics and Management, Yunnan Minzu University, Mr. Jian Li, Financial Director of Hainan Free Trade Port Resort Software Community, Dr. Bing Sun, Ph.D. in Climate Governance from The University of Manchester, Vice Chairman of SORSA UoM Alumni Association, and founder of the Chinese Carbon Industry Ecosystem, Dr. Shiwei Lin, Ph.D. in Material Science from The University of Manchester and professor at Hainan University, and Dr. Cherie Chen, Ph.D. in fashion supply chain management from The University of Manchester, President of the Hainan Alumni Association and DBA supervisor at Raffles University, shared their insights at the forum. They provided an in-depth analysis of the financial and educational policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port and discussed the profound impact of these policies on the future.

Afterwards, alumni attended the "Nanyang Dinner" at the Mission Hills Huayi Feng Xiaogang Movie Town, reminiscing about their time in Manchester.

The Hainan Alumni Association also meticulously organized visits to the Coconut Palm Group and the Haikou International Duty Free City Shopping Complex , where alumni guests received and introduced the enterprises, allowing for close contact with corporate culture and an understanding of the development history and business models of local Hainan enterprises.

The successful hosting of "The University of Manchester Bicentenary · Hainan Forum" gave the alumni an unforgettable journey.
