UoM China Centre Sponsors the Diversity and Inclusion Award
On 7 March 2025, the China Schools Awards 2025 ceremony, inaugurated by Lewis Neal, HM Trade Commissioner to China, successfully concluded in Beijing. The event brought together more than 140 international school administrators, experienced education professionals, and industry experts. As a long-term partner of this prestigious educational event, the University of Manchester (UoM) China Centre supported the Diversity and Inclusion Award this year, continuing to promote the local practice of international education. Julian Fisher, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, also attended and delivered a speech. The event was co-organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in China, the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, and the British Chamber of Commerce South China.
As a judge and award presenter, Sherry Fu, Director of the UoM China Centre, delivered a speech during the announcement of the Diversity and Inclusion Award: "Educational innovation is inseparable from the construction of a sustainable inclusive system." The three shortlisted schools - American International School Guangzhou, the British School of Beijing, Shunyi, and Western Academy of Beijing - all presented outstanding cases, providing us with practical reference models. Ultimately, the American International School Guangzhou won the award.

Last year, the China Centre was honoured with the Lifelong Learning Provider Award at the 2024 China Schools Awards, a milestone coinciding with the UoM's 200th anniversary and Manchester's designation as a UNESCO City of Lifelong Learning. This recognition strongly affirmed the Centre's commitment to empowering international management talents since its establishment in 2008. This year, the award was won by PeerSphere, with Larry Nelson, the Regional General Manager of Education, Microsoft Asia serving as the award presenter.

Just as the University of Manchester deeply embeds diverse values into its DNA, the China Centre has been supporting the university's part-time "Educational Leadership in Practice" master programme, cultivating international education leaders with a global perspective. This initiative empowers the construction of inclusive campus ecosystems through cross-cultural leadership and critical thinking. Sherry Fu emphasized that the Centre would continue to leverage the university's globally leading academic resources to drive local educational innovation and collaborate with the industry to create a blueprint for equitable educational development.
